Christien and I give very different short versions of this story. He says we met through the internet, and I say we met through a mutual friend. The actual story is a combination of the two.

Our mutual friend, Tyra, came across Christien's blog when she was searching for personal stories about Hurricane Katrina. She e-mailed him to compliment him on his story. When Christien transferred to Atlanta with CBS, Tyra was one of the few people he knew in the city. 

I hadn't seen Tyra in about 6 years when she asked to be my friend on MySpace. Tyra is the older sister of one of my best friends from high school. She quickly recommended that I consider going on a date with her friend Christien because she thought we would really hit it off. I don't think too highly of blind dates, but she had such good things to say I gave it a chance. Soon after Christien e-mailed me for my phone number.  We went on our first date a couple weeks later.
